A trophy for Best Bordeaux Blend and two silver medals recently helped Saronsberg to a second place finish in the Most Successful Producer rankings at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show. The distinctions follow closely on the heels of the award for Most Successful Winery at the Swiss International Airlines Wine Awards, and highlight the rapidly growing reputation of Saronsberg’s Provenance range.

It was the Provenance Rooi 2006 that the international panel of judges felt outclassed its peers to deserve the trophy for Best Bordeaux Blend.
“We are thrilled to earn this type of recognition for our Provenance Rooi,” says winemaker Dewaldt Heyns. “With regular accolades for our Saronsberg wines since our first harvest in 2004, it’s great to see our Provenance range establishing itself as a brand of significant quality within just a year of its launch.”

Silver medals – for wines that scored 80 points or above – were awarded to the Saronsberg Seismic 2006 and the Full Circle 2005.
“Saronsberg and Provenance are very dissimilar creatures: two ranges that openly express the individual characteristics of their own unique parts of the farm’s terroir,” says Dewaldt.
“We really enjoy their different personalities, and it seems the Old Mutual judges did too.”

Saronsberg and Provenance wines will be available to the public for tasting in Cape Town on Thursday 12th June at the Westin Grand. Contact Saronsberg at (023) 230 0707, or email info@saronsberg.com for more information.
