We acknowledge that wine judging is not an exact process. The sheer number of variables that come into play when tasting the same wine across different competitions with different tasting panels in different parts of the world at different times of the year, ensure that an award sticker on the outside of a bottle is no guarantee of quality on the inside. We do, however, believe that awards and competitions have a role to play in indicating consistency of quality - across vintages of the same wine and a winery's portfolio as a whole.
